2. To develop pupils’ competence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while equipping them with key 21st-century skills.
3. To nurture students to become self-directed learners

Summary

Our school-based English curriculum places reading as the primary input skill for primary school learners. In addition to our GE Programme, we implement a Readers Programme for all students in P1–P6 to expose them to age-appropriate literature.

For P1–P3, students participate in our Fun Readers Reading Programme on a weekly basis in the English Room. Through this programme, they develop phonics skills, practise silent reading, and take part in guided reading supported by our NET and LETs.

When learners move into Key Stage 2, we further strengthen their oral skills through fortnightly speaking lessons and interview skills training delivered by our ELTA, Mr Simba. These sessions provide structured opportunities for students to practise speaking and build confidence in communication.

Within our GE Programme, we use our textbook units and integrate diversified project-based learning activities and lesson planning to promote Reading across the Curriculum (RaC). We also embed AI in teaching to enhance learning experiences and include values education throughout learning activities.

Learning English Beyond the Classroom
Beyond regular lessons, we foster an immersive English-speaking environment through campus-wide initiatives such as 'All-English Morning' and student-led 'One-Minute Weather Forecast' held fortnightly. To further enrich student life, our school offers a wide range of teams and extracurricular activities throughout the academic year, with SimCity as our most distinctive annual event, which promotes the use of English in real-life contexts.
